OLT Offshore LNG

The regasification plant of OLT Offshore LNG Toscana is made up of a former LNG carrier modified and permanently moored about 22 km off the coast between Livorno and Pisa.
"FSRU Toscana" is located about 22 km off the coast between Livorno and Pisa. The gas is transferred onshore through a 36,5 km long pipeline, about 29,5 km of which are at sea, 5 km in the floodway and the remaining 2 km on dry land.
The pipeline was completely buried at a minimum depth of 2 metres. Once onshore, the pipeline follows the route of the River Arno's floodway to reach a small regulation and metering station built at Seuse, in the territory of the Municipality of Collesalvetti, from where the gas is introduced into the National Gas Network. The gas pipeline was buried at a depth of 6 metres along the floodway so as not to interfere with the floodway's navigability project.
The location of the regasification Terminal was chosen because Livorno, at a national level, is a port able to support the activities of the Terminal. Moreover, Livorno is located in a strategic area for supply in the Mediterranean Sea, near to the territories where the gas is mostly used. Tuscany is in fact one of the regions that uses more quantities of gas and has an annual consumption of about 4 billion cubic metres.
