Gas transport and related services need to be provided to players on the gas markets. Most conditions and tariffs are regulated by law and are fixed by the local Offices for Energy Regulation. There are different systems for selling transport services e.g. the balancing entry-exit system in the Netherlands.

oil production

An oil production plant is a facility which performs processing of production fluids from oil wells in order to separate out key components and prepare them for export. This is distinct from an oil depot, which do not have processing facilities. Typical production fluids are a mixture of oil, gas and produced water.

gas storage

Gas storage is principally used to meet seasonal load variations. Gas is injected into storage during periods of low demand and withdrawn from storage during periods of peak demand.

In 2006, about 18% of global final energy consumption came from renewables, with 13% coming from traditional biomass, such as wood-burning.

Liquefied natural gas is used to transport natural gas over long distances, often by sea. In most cases, LNG terminals are purpose-built ports used exclusively to export or import LNG. LNG is transported in specially designed ships with double hulls protecting the cargo systems from damage or leaks.
